About Me
I am a librarian with an MSI from the University of Michigan School of Information. I earned my undergraduate degree in Secondary Education and History from Western Michigan University in 2003, and I spent the next several years teaching and traveling before stopping to earn my Master's degree. Part of my travels include 2.5 years teaching English in South Korea, an experience that I find new value in everyday.
Since 2011, I have been the Library Media Specialist at White River Elementary in Noblesville, Indiana. In my time at White River, I have worked hard to transform the library into a hub of learning and inquiry. Part of that process has included creating a makerspace, organizing the Fiction collection into genres, and aligning the library program goals with our school improvement plan.
I have learned so much in three years, about integrating technology into the curriculum. It continues to be my firm belief that I have a responsibility, as an educator and as a librarian, to teach my students not only how to use these new technology tools, but also why to use them. As well as how to be wise, creative and respectful in the process.
